When Kavanaugh mentions civility, a woman stands up and says, "Civility? You would not even shake the hand of the man who lost his daughter at Parkland." This is a reference to a incident during the first day in which Fred Guttenberg, whose daughter Jaime was killed in the Feb. 14 shooting at Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla., sought to shake hands and speak with Kavanaugh at the lunch break and claims he was rebuffed. The White House says a security agent intervened before Kavanaugh understood who Guttenberg was. I wrote about the flap in Education Week here:
