As someone who works for an appellate court, people would be wise to consider that even after opinions are written and votes are taken, the cases go through an extensive editing and review process that may prompt further changes and editing.
TL/DR cases may be "done" in that the justices have made up their minds and have drafts, but they're not ready for release -
I read the Bretheren, the Nine and the Most Dangerous Branch back to back last year. I don't remember which, but one discusses that handwritten memo's are the favorite form of communication even with email available. I can't help but wonder if the necessary switch to email has added to the delay.
