Good morning, everyone! Welcome to our live blog. We're excited to be here for this special Thursday edition. There are seven cases left, which I summarized in Plain English earlier this week: www.scotusblog.com
-
Good Morning. Did the court take any action on the congressional request to allow live audio broadcast of the next few conferences?
-
Good morning, how many decisions should we expect today, and do you think King v. Burwell will be one of them?
-
Watching and monitoring this from the UK. As a Brit it is extraordinary to me that things of such significance can be decided through a court! I suppose living in a country with parliamentary democracy and no written constitution it is such a contrast. Highly interesting regardless.
-
Is today an opinion only day? Or will orders also be released?
-
Good Morning Amy, do you think that adding tomorrow, June 26th to the calendar for orders/opinions could be intended to coincide with the 2yr anniversary of DOMA being struck down, and the realization of SSM Nationwide? It has me a bit optimistic, but not getting my hopes up just yet
-
So we won't hear any action on the Texas abortion issue until Monday since that would be an order?
-
A tweet from The Hill suggested on Tuesday that King would be Friday and SSM would be Monday. Is there any particular reason/insight as to whether that would be the case?
-
Is there a particular rhyme or reason to when opinions are given? For instance, are the most anticipated (like the same-sex marriage case[s]) always left to the end?
-
Do justices, individually or collectively, ever consider the costs/benefits, in the short or long run, to the Court as an institution of their decisions?
-
I think I speak for all of us when I say we'd like to hear more from Tejinder
-
I see that a number of justices have 2 majority opinions already in a number of sitting. Do they usually cap out at 2?
-
Good morning from Cincinnati! We are anxiously waiting to hear on SSM. Was Jim Obergefell first in line today?
-
So we won't know until Monday if the Currier v. Jackson Women's Health Org. is going to be picked up, since it is currently just relisted?
-
If you're new to the live blog and have questions about how the release of opinions works (or if you're not seeing an answer to your question in the live blog) please check out our FAQ page.
-
Can a Supreme Court judge if he chooses to not give out his/her opinion on a particular case?
-
I know Monday is the last regular day for orders this term, but has the Court explicitly said that some of its opinions will be on that day as well? I know the Court has said we will be getting them today and tomorrow, so I'm wondering if it's possible that we will be getting all remaining decisions this week.
-
How much weight is given to Congressional Debate or non-legislative statements by authors/co-sponsors of a particular law when interpreting its meaning?
-
We already have almost ten thousand readers on the live blog and are getting a ton of questions. We have a whole team here to answer them, but we are still not able to keep up. Sorry if we are not getting to your questions -- please check to make sure that your question is not among our FAQs, because we are less likely to answer those.

Good Morning from Princeton! Home to Justice Alito's and Sotomayor's Alma Mater
-
What do SCOTUSBlog editors do when SCOTUS is on summer vacation?
-
In your opinion, what are the odds that the Court will publish its opinion on same sex marriage today?
-
QUESTION: If court rules for plaintiffs in King v Burwell, does the court have the authority and precedent to stay their own ruling for a period of time, and if so, for up to how long, to allow Congress to implement a "fix" for the millions of people who stand to lose subsidies in states who did NOT create their own exchange? Thanks in advance.
-
I hope the SCOTUSblog twitter account is ready for the next few days.
-
Can you give us a quick list of the 7 cases still to be decided? Most know about SSM and King. What are the others?
-
A recent article in the Duke Law Journal indicated that a possible reason for the court holding out opinions on big cases is to avoid the social interactions they'd face with politicians before they break. Do you think that's accurate?
-
Whoever is elected President will likely nominate a goodly number to the Court. And yet candidates are not pointing this out. Are they afraid it could whip up the other side?
-
Can the Justices change their vote at any time before the decision? Or does it become "binding" at some earlier point?
-
Do you think any of the Justices will be retiring this year?
-
I keep reading of the possibility that this can go either way or something in between, thoughts ?
-
How does the voting process actually work? Do they do a show of hands, write it on a piece of paper?
-
Is there any reason that Friday will also hold orders/opinions? Is that odd or out of the ordinary at all?
-
Do you think SCOTUS could/would weigh-in with a directive if the Senate refused to confirm and Obama/Presidential appointment to the court (given all the recent court appointment process tension)?
-
King v. Burwell and Obergefell v. Hodges get decided in favor of the left, is this a clear sign that our country has switched from conservative leaning to leftist leaning?
-
What would be the impact if the day before a 5-4 decision is to be issued, a member of the 5 vote majority died? Would the deceased's vote count or would it be 4-4?
-
I, too, had been wondering about Lyle. I pictured him as a 20-something intern with mad social media skills. I LOVED it when WaPo tweeted this 2013 profile of him and learned he's an 83-year-old traditional reporter who just loves his work and knows this beat better than just about anyone. www.washingtonpost.com
