Is it possible that cases involving second amendment are being hold for the decision in nyc second amendment case. What would be the possible opinion in the case. Will it apply strict scrutiny or rule that history and text and tradition has to be looked at when evaluating second amendment cases. Please post this question. This is my second time asking similar question but didnt get posted.

I appreciate your response to my question Mr. Wermiel. Based upon your experience what do you think will be the outcome from the nyc case? If they are holding other second amendment petitions that might mean they will GVR the other petitions when they decide the nyc gun case. What will be the ruling in the case to apply to the other petitions?
The other petitions have gone to conference once. -
Mr. Wermiel which is more likely. Scotus will rule that second amendment cases have to apply strict scrutiny. Or second amendment cases have to be evaluated based upon text history and tradition of second amendment. The solicitor general said in his brief to apply text tradition and history. It might help scotus in not taking up more second amendment cases if they rule either way. And leave the rest for the lower courts. I know you said you dont want to say what could be the outcome. But what do you think is possible outcome.

I've been looking for a way to better understand the Supreme Court from a novice for awhile, I feel like I've found that place. Thank you. Quick question. If in the orders list a case is listed as 'Certiorari Denied' is that pretty much the end of the road and the lower court decision is all but final?

RE: NY 2nd amendment case. One possible outcome is overturning Heller. Roberts was not very big on Heller to begin with. The 4 liberals will overturn it in a heartbeat. I can see Roberts voting to overturn both Heller and Rowe on the same day to maintain a veneer of non-partisanship.

In Holguin-Hernandez v. United States, Alito appoints a former clerk with no Supreme Court experience to argue in support of the judgment below. The Solicitor General had said in his cert response that the 5th Circuit's rule requiring an objection to a sentence in order to invoke reasonableness review was wrong but that cert should be denied.
