With all the political activity lately surrounding the Obamacare funding case it seems hard to believe that some of these political people didn't get some inside information about how that case was going or was going to be decided. I just don't believe anything can truly be kept a secret these days.
Do you still feel that there are no leaks of any kind on these cases? -
What is the case name we're looking for in the marriage equality case? Like Smith v Jones...or the case number?
-
What is the relation,if any, to orders & the anticipated decisions for today.
-
Can you elaborate on why 13 lawyers were disbarred and how frequently this happens?
-
Are there any notable examples of decisions that leaked in advance of their release?
-
Any remaining cases that you feel may be dark horses, i.e. could have a big impact but don't have the notoriety of the SSM or ACA cases?
-
Just to be clear, the Court has not yet issued OPINIONS yet. Just orders from last week's conference, granting -- but mostly denying -- requests to review cases on the merits.
-
Why doesn't the court announce what decisions they'll make in advance?
-
Any decision on Friedrichs v. California Teachers Association? Thanks.
-
Is it normal for such a high-profile case as Fisher v. University of Texas to be relisted for the second or third time? Does that pattern forecasts the Court is more likely to take case up, or is one of the Justices writing a dissent to an order denying cert? Maybe events in Charleston convinced Court to hold off on issuing Order on Fisher this week.

If you have a question about the difference between orders and opinions (or another question that you're not seeing an answer to here), please visit our FAQ page.
-
Sorry, newbie, so the court has not published its 'decisions' yet today? I'm waiting for obergefell, and I'm sure a lot of people are.
-
Is the George Huguely/UVA cert petition up for review yet? Any guess when that petition will be ruled on?
-
How do different justices get assigned to the different circuits, and why do some have more than others?
-
Are the public lines to get into the court longer than usual? Would a 6am arrival on the day of be too late? (wondering if you guys know)
-
As I recall, the first Obamacare decision was issued on the last day of the 2012 session, so everybody knew something was coming.
-
Friedrichs v. CTA (fair share union dues case) is up for conference later this week. What are the current odds on the Court granting cert on that one?
-
Australia here! What's the process at 10am - are the decisions released immediately or after the justices speak?
-
My bad guesses for the opinions we will get today: Justice Kagan for the Court affirming in Kimbel, holding that the Court will not overrule Brulotte v. Thys Co.; Justice Sotomayor for the Court affirming in Patel, holding that the police cannot seize hotel records without some judicial process; and Justice Ginsburg for the Court reversing in Arizona Legislature, holding that the Arizona independent commission is unconstitutional. (The last prediction is the most controversial in terms of the outcome.) -
Since Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs v. The Inclusive Communities Project is the earliest case still outstanding, does it have the greatest chance of being decided? Or does the date of the argument not matter that much?
-
I know oral arguments are not broadcast (audio nor video) but are the opinions read by justices broadcast live?
-
With the ability of hackers to seemingly penetrate all systems, I wonder if opinions are written on computers without internet access to prevent leaks.
-
Who usually does the announcing of the opinions, the Chief Justice or whoever wrote the majority opinion?
-
Any chance the Court would push off some of the late argued cases for next term?
-
What does the smart money say about the fate of ACCA's residual clause?
-
Amy, do you have a pool in the office on what the last case released for the term will be?
-
Europe, Asia, Africa, North America & Australia for now. Anyone from South America? Antartica?
-
Does the President (or anyone in legislature) get advance notice of decisions (even by a few hours)?
-
What is the potential for Obergefell to address strict/intermediate constitutional scrutiny? I know that the issues were raised in some of the consolidated cases, but only two points (not related to constitutional scrutiny) are before the Court.
-
So what happens between the order list and the opinions? Do the Justices just leave, and then come back 30 minutes later for dramatic effect?
-
I'm a bit curious. How many of the folks at SCOTUSBLOG have done Supreme Court clerking? Or Supreme Court work? Is it a prerequisite to working here at the site or is it just a plus?
-
Are there any chances that a few cases be declared as improvidently granted near the end of a term?
-
Will the cases be announced by the justices in terms of seniority? If so, what is that order among the nine justices?
-
Remember well the DIG that proceeded the first ACA decision
-
Is Obergefell really considered more likely to be last than Burwell? Surely the issues at hand and the political fallout pressure are much stronger in the latter.
-
Who actually writes the decisions - how is that decided?
-
could they decide ACA on standing grounds and simply reject the appeal, leaving the 4th and DC circuits consistent decisions standing?
-
Is there precedent for a Court ruling a law is unconstitutional but not ordering its nullification, in cases where the law is already so ingrained and/or widely-accepted? Taking ACA out of it, like if tomorrow the Court ruled that Social Security was unconstitutional.
